Born Margot Van Voorhies Carr, Margot de Taxco moved from her native U.S.A. to Taxco, Mexico, the country’s “Capital of Silver,” then famous for its concentration of artists and creatives. Opening her own jewelry workshop, she took on her adopted city as her professional moniker and began producing striking designs in silver and enamel. Her influences were varied and included the ancient Maya, Japanese art, and the Art Deco movement. The latter muse takes center stage in this necklace, with its neat geometry and eye-catching color contrast.
