Hadeda's range of unique story cushions are from the Mogalakwena Foundation in the remote north-western region of the Limpopo Province, South Africa. Each is hand-embroidered to depict the lives of the women who create them - illustrating scenes of day-to-day life as well as indigeous plants and animals, all through the medium of craft. Each cushion is 'signed', giving each craftswoman a sense of ownership over their creations.
More about the Mogalakwena Foundation: The Mogalakwena Craft Art Development Foundation (MCADF) not only assists in the restoration, development and promotion of traditional craft art skills, but also supports the economic and social up-liftment of the local Northern Sotho community. The aim is to establish a sustainable development programme, employment opportunities, transfer skills and preserve indigenous culture.
